A NATO warplane has been threatened by Russian fighter jets as the warplane was approaching another Russian aircraft carrying the Russian Defence Minister.
The Minister had been making his return trip from Moscow, Russia where he attended a military celebration ceremony to honor the creation of a new military academy.
“Jets from NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission scrambled to identify the aircraft which flew close to Allied airspace. Once identification of the aircraft had taken place, the NATO jets returned to base… NATO has no information as to who was on board.”
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened either. Back in 2017, a Polish F-16 fighter jet was honing in on Shoigu’s aircraft directly above the Baltic Sea when a Russian fighter jet had also chased off the Polish aircraft. Tensions are ever-growing between Russia and NATO, as both party’s are noticeably increasing their military forces.
