Maddie Lucas is a May 2018 graduate of Clemson University with a BS in Anthropology and Biological Sciences. She is currently in her gap year leading up to graduate school with plans to pursue a Masters in Forensic Science at the University of Florida. She hopes to work alongside a medical examiner.
During Maddie’s college years, she was the intern for the Pickens County Coroner, where she worked closely with the administrative assistant cross-referencing autopsy and coroner’s reports as well as completing projects. She was even able to sit in on autopsies! She describes it as a “super awesome experience” and states that she wishes she could have spent more time there. She was also the Vice President of the Anthropology Club and has traveled to cities such as Austin, New Orleans, and Atlanta for yearly conferences.
Maddie is originally from Walterboro, South Carolina, a small suburb of Charleston. She has recently moved to Milton, Florida, which is located about 30 minutes from Pensacola. She mentions that sushi, kayaking, cats, college football, and sweet tea are a few of her favorite things. She states, “Working as a scribe has been an incredible experience; I have learned so much and truly enjoy it.”
She was nominated for the Scribe Spotlight by Amanda Jack, who observes, “Maddie has recently been placed with 2 providers. She has always done an amazing job. She is very skilled as a scribe and is willing to help others when needed.”
